Addressing Crime In Virtual Worlds & Online Gaming Worlds

*Training is open to LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, PROBATION OFFICERS, and PAROLE OFFICERS from LOCAL and STATE AGENCIES.

Drakontas and Drexel University have been awarded a grant by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance to develop and deliver FREE one-day training courses across the country to help law enforcement personnel identify, investigate and prevent crimes involving virtual worlds and online gaming communities.

Using lectures and interactive case studies, we will cover the following topics:

  • Economies and Embedded Communications Capabilities within Virtual & Online Gaming Worlds;
  • Types of Crimes committed in Virtual & Online Gaming Worlds;
  • Sources of Evidence;
  • Techniques for Seizing Popular Console and Portable Gaming Hardware;
  • Tools and Techniques for Investigating Crimes; and
  • Legal Considerations and Procedures

The next training session will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM at the NFSTC in Largo, Florida. I am attaching the announcement we put together for this training session that you can use. Please be advised that space is limited and is open to State and local law enforcement personnel only.
