SRTBRC is evaluating the application of Light Sport Aircraft (LSA’s), both for pilots and equipment, to small/rural law enforcement.
SRTBRC received deliver of a Sky Arrow Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) on 8/25/2007. It was initially stationed at the Fleming Mason airport in Kentucky. The Aviation Technology Program is currently being evaluated in four Kentucky counties: Fleming, Mason, Rowan, and Menifee. On December 31, 2008, the SRTBRC aviation program took delivery of a new Tecnam Eaglet for evaluation. The Tecnam has been assigned to the Kentucky aviation project. On March 5, 2009, the Sky Arrow was transferred to the newly formed North Carolina aviation project at the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office.
